This launch monitor was probably the most exciting purchase I have made in a while. I mean, a launch monitor for $700!! C'mon!
I received the Launch monitor, which was packed well, and came with a nice little case. Setup was a little tricky. But I have some advice that will make it much easier.
First, set up your mat or hitting area such that your ball placement is within about a 12" x 8" area. When you place your launch monitor, it gives you a visual box to line up your ball in.

When you do this, mark the foot placement of the LM on the ground where you have lined it up. If you do this correctly, you will never have to repeat the lining up process again. Just place the launch monitor on your marks and start hitting.
I also found it useful to mark on my mat the hitting area represented on the LM. So I have a rectangle drawn on my mat, and I know that I can place a ball within that rectangle and the LM will pick up my shot. Just takes the guess work out of it.
Now the app setup can be a bit tricky. Rapsodo only runs on android or iOS. I even tried running it on bluestacks (an android emulator for PC) . No luck there. So, what I decided to do, is run it on an extra android smart phone, and mirror the phone to the TV/projector. This actually works quite well, and is very low drag.
I leave the phone plugged in, and keep everything ready to go. It will also run on an android tablet.
The Rapsodo software is... well, its ok. The virtual golf on it is pretty damned awful though. Luckily, you get a subscription to Awesome Golf with the purchase of this launch monitor. Awesome golf is ...pretty awesome actually. There are tons of skills building activities, range options, and of course virtual golf. Right now, there are only 4 playable courses. But I hear that there will be more coming soon.
For $700 though. Just go buy one. You won't regret it. All you need to get a working sim going are the following:
-hitting mat
-hitting net or impact screen
-TV or projector
-launch monitor
-smartphone, iPad or Android tablet
It will change your life :-)
